Installation Procedure
- Install the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the stud located at the engine block.
- Install the nut securing the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the engine block.
Tighten: Tighten the starter heat shield mounting bracket nut to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
- Install the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the stud located at the rear of the starter motor.
- Install the nut securing the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the starter.
Tighten: Tighten the starter heat shield mounting bracket nut to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
- Position the starter heat shield to the starter motor and brackets.
- Install the fasteners securing the starter heat shield to the starter motor and brackets.
Tighten: Tighten the starter heat shield fasteners to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.8L) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.6L) .
