2008 Pontiac Grand Prix BaseSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the insulator to the battery.
  2. IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during installation.
  3. Install the battery.
  4. Install the battery hold down.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the battery hold down bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  7. Install the positive battery terminal (1) to the battery.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  8. Install the right front diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.8L)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.6L) .
