Installation Procedure

2008 Pontiac Grand Prix BaseSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery heat shield. Refer to Battery Heat Shield Replacement (3.6L) .
  2. Fig 1: Identifying Battery Tray & Bolt

  3. Install the battery into the vehicle.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the battery retainer and bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the battery retainer bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery.

    Tighten:  Tighten the battery cable bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  8. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.8L)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.6L) .
