2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWDSECTION Removal Procedure

CAUTION: When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Prop open the rear compartment lid in the fully up position.
  2. Remove the front rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear  .
  3. Note the location of the torque rod in the adjustment bracket for reinstallation.
  4. Use the J 43300  (1) in order to disconnect the torque rod from the adjustment bracket.
    1. 4.1. Install the J 43300  (1) over the end of the torque rod.
    2. 4.2. Use a ratchet extension (2) for extra leverage.
    3. 4.3. Pry rearward, releasing the torque rod from the adjuster bracket.
    4. 4.4. Carefully move the J 43300  toward the front of the car releasing the pressure on the torque rod.

  6. Slide the opposite end of torque rod out of the rear compartment hinge.
  7. Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.
