Fuel Rail Assembly: Installation

2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWDSECTION Installation

  1. Install the fuel rail and bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the fuel injector feed pipes. Tighten the fittings to specification. Install the fuel injector feed pipe retainers and bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification.
  2. Install the junction block and nuts. Tighten the nuts to specification. Connect the fuel return rear pipe to the back end of the fuel rail. See Fig 1. Tighten the fitting to specification. Install the line from the junction block to the injection pump. Tighten the fitting to specification. Install the A/C compressor and bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification.
  3. Connect the A/C compressor clutch electrical connector. Connect the A/C cut out switch electrical connector. Install the drive belt to the drive pulleys. See 6.6L in COOLING SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING article for drive belt routing. Install a 3/8 inch breaker bar into the tensioner opening and rotate the tensioner counterclockwise. Route the drive belt over tension pulley. Slowly release the tension on the tensioner arm. Inspect for proper drive belt installation.
  4. Install the water outlet pipe to thermostat housing. Install the PCV hose. Reposition the PCV hose clamp. Install the L-bracket holding the fuel lines. Connect the fuel lines. Install the glow plug bracket. Connect the glow plug relay electrical connectors. See Figure.
  5. Install the charged air cooler inlet duct to the turbocharger. Align the mark on the duct with the mark on the turbocharger. Position the clamp for proper clearance. Tighten the clamp to specification. Install the bolt attaching the positive battery cable junction box and bracket.
  6. Connect the negative battery cables. Tighten battery cable bolts to specification. Replace all hold down ties. Install the upper radiator hose. Reposition hose clamps. Fill the cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM. Prime fuel system, if necessary. See FUEL SYSTEM PRIMING .
