WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If the pressure regulator is being re-used, check the "O" rings for damage. If the "O" rings are damaged, install NEW "O" rings. Lubricate and install NEW "O" rings onto the regulator. Lubricate the "O" rings with clean, NEW engine oil. If the regulator is installed at an angle the "O" rings may be damaged, resulting in possible fuel leakage.
  2. Install the fuel pressure regulator. Install the 3 fuel pressure regulator screws using a T25 TORX®. Tighten screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the injection pump inlet hose to the fuel feed distribution (leak) block. Position the injection pump inlet clamp.
  3. Install the PCV hose to both valve covers. Connect the oil level sensor harness electrical connector. Connect the fuel pressure regulator electrical connector. Connect the left rear fuel injector electrical connector. Connect the left front fuel injector electrical connector. Connect the fuel rail temperature sensor electrical connector.
  4. Connect the glow plug relay electrical connectors. Connect the BARO sensor electrical connector. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector. Install the main harnesses to the bracket. Install both main harness electrical connector to bracket bolts and tighten to specification. Connect both main harness electrical connectors.
  5. Install the water outlet tube. See WATER OUTLET TUBE  under COOLING SYSTEM. Position the A/C compressor. Install the A/C compressor bolts and tighten to specification. Connect the A/C cut out switch electrical connector. Connect the A/C compressor clutch electrical connector.
  6. Install the drive belt to the drive pulleys. See 6.6L in COOLING SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING article for drive belt routing. Install a 3/8 inch breaker bar into the tensioner opening and rotate the tensioner counterclockwise. Route the drive belt over tension pulley. Slowly release the tension on the tensioner arm. Inspect for proper drive belt installation. Install the air intake pipe. See AIR INTAKE PIPE  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS. Fill the cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM. Prime fuel system, if necessary. See FUEL SYSTEM PRIMING .
