Spark Plugs: Installation

CAUTION: DO NOT coat spark plug threads with anti-seize compound. If anti-seize compound is used and spark plugs are over-torqued, damage to the cylinder head threads may result.

Gap the spark plugs to specification. See SPARK PLUGS under IGNITION SYSTEMS in SERVICE & ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - 2.2L & 3.0L VUE article. Install the spark plugs. Tighten the spark plugs to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Apply dielectric compound to spark plug boots and make sure no corrosion is present. Install ignition coil housing. See IGNITION COIL HOUSING  .



New spark plugs are pre-gapped. If spark plug is dropped, it should be replaced. Gap the spark plugs to specification. See SPARK PLUGS under IGNITION SYSTEMS in SERVICE & ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - 2.2L & 3.0L VUE article. Install the spark plugs. Tighten the spark plugs to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install EI module. See ELECTRONIC IGNITION MODULE  .
