Fuel Pressure Regulator: Installation

  1. Install NEW "O" rings on the fuel pressure regulator if a new regulator is not being installed. Lubricate the "O" rings lightly with clean engine oil. Install the back-up ring. Install the upper "O" ring. Install the filter. Install the lower "O" ring. Install the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip.
  2. Connect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. Connect the negative battery cable. Install the rear seat cushion. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks: Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  3. Keeping the injector sight shield as level as possible, place the rear of the shield under the mounting bracket. Align and press the injector sight shield onto the mounting studs. Install the mounting nuts onto the mounting studs and tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
