Spring Shackle: Installation

2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWDSECTION Installation

  1. Install spring shackle to the vehicle.
  2. Install the spring shackle to leaf spring mounting bolt and nut. DO NOT tighten the nut. See Fig 1.

  3. Install the frame to the spring shackle mounting bolt and nut. DO NOT tighten the nut.
  4. Raise the axle support so that there is a distance of 170 mm plus or minus 6 mm (6.7 in. plus or minus 0.24 in.) between the axle tube and the metal surface of the bumper bracket (1). See Figure.
  5. Tighten the spring shackle mounting nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Remove rear axle support.
  7. Raise exhaust system and connect rear exhaust hangers, if necessary.
  8. Install spare tire, if necessary.
  9. Install the EVAP canister on 2-Door utility models.
  10. Install the fuel tank on 2-Door utility models.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
