Brake Caliper: Installation
2013 Mini Cooper Countryman, Standard TransSECTION Installation

- Coat cylinder bore, piston, dust sleeve and sealing ring with a light coat of brake cylinder paste.
- Install sealing cover in rear annular groove of cylinder bore. Press in piston with a hardwood board. See Fig 1.
- The area between dust cover and brake caliper housing must be kept dry so as to ensure correct seating for the dust cover. Keep brake cylinder paste or brake fluid away from this area. Install dust cover evenly up to stop with special tool 34 1 131. See Fig 2.
- For rear use special tool 34 1 132. See Fig 3.
- Press brake lining fully outwards and insert spring (4). See Fig 4.
- Only clean guide screws, do not grease. Check and replace if necessary. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install caliper. See CALIPER ASSEMBLY .
NOTE:
Ensure piston is not tilted when installing.
