Engine Oil

2013 Volkswagen Beetle (5C1) L5-2.5L (CBTA)SECTION Engine Oil

Engine oil type

VW Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00

For a list of engine oils that meet Volkswagen oil quality standards refer to the most current Technical Service Bulletin "Engine oils which meet Volkswagen Oil Quality Standards..."

Use only engine oils that expressly meets the Volkswagen oil quality standard specified for this vehicle. Using any other engine oil can cause serious engine damage that will not be covered by any Volkswagen Limited Warranty.

Do not overfill! Over filling can cause misfire DTCs to be stored in the ECM. To prevent overfilling, add approx. 0.5L less than capacity, start engine and let run until engine is at operating temperature (approx 60 deg C (140 deg F)). Turn ignition OFF, wait approx 3 mins, check dipstick, then fill to MAX.

Turbo engines only: After changing oil and filter, start and run engine at idle until oil pressure light goes out. DO NOT rev engine, this could cause damage/failure of the turbocharger.
