Airbag Control Module J234
When working on the airbag control module always not the safety guidelines when working on airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions.
Removing
- Disconnect the battery.
- Remove right and left footwell trim from center console (other center console components do not need to be removed):
• Basic: => [ Center Console, Basis, Golf from MY 09 ] Center Console, Basis, Golf From MY 09
• Highline: => [ Center Console, Highline, Golf from MY 09 ] Center Console, Highline, Golf From MY 09
• For clarity, center console is not depicted in the illustration.
- Open locking mechanism of connector - 1 - and disconnect wiring harness from control module - 2 -.
- Remove three nuts - 3 - (9 Nm).
- Remove the control module from the vehicle.

Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
- Switch on ignition.
Make sure that no persons are in the vehicle.
- Connect the battery.
- If the control unit was replaced, it must be coded. Adapting components (coding). Refer to => [ Components, Adapting ] Components, Adapting
Airbag Control Module J234
