Radio/Navigation Systems
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Removal Wedge (3409)
• Note the chapter for the individual unit when removing and installing.
Removing
Perform the following steps before starting:
- Remove any CD's that may still be in the unit. Refer to the Owner's Manual.
- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the key.
Perform the following:
- Remove the center console cover - arrows - using the (3409).
- Remove the cover.
- Disconnect the connector from the center console cover - arrows - and remove it.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - from the radio/radio-navigation system.
- Pull the radio/radio-navigation system out of the installation slot just far enough so that the connectors on the back are accessible.
- Press the connector lock - arrows - together in the direction of the arrow.
- Move the locking bracket in the direction of - arrow - up and disconnect the connector.
- Disconnect the connectors - arrows - from the antenna connections.
Installing
- Plug in the connectors to the radio/radio-navigation system and lock them in.
- Slide the radio/radio-navigation system straight into the instrument panel.
• While sliding in the radio/radio navigation system into the instrument panel, never push on the display or on the control buttons because this can damage the unit.
- Tighten the 4 screws - arrows - on the radio/radio-navigation system.
- Reinstall the center console cover.
- If necessary, deactivate the anti-theft protection:
• Radio system RCD 510, refer to => [ RCD 510 (Premium 8) Radio ] RCD 510 (Premium 8) Radio.
• Radio Navigation System RNS 315, refer to => [ RNS 315 Radio Navigation System ] RNS 315 Radio Navigation System.
• Radio Navigation System RNS 510, refer to => [ RNS 510 Radio Navigation System ] RNS 510 Radio Navigation System.
• Premium Sound System Radio, refer to => [ Premium Sound System (Premium 7) ] Premium Sound System (Premium 7).
- Check the coding for the radio/radio-navigation systems and code them anew if necessary.
