Control Module: Service and Repair

2003 Volkswagen New Beetle (1C1) L4-2.0L (AVH)SECTION Service and Repair




The control module (arrow) is located in the plenum chamber, center right.

Removing TCM -J217-
^ Switch off ignition.
^ Remove inner cover of plenum chamber.





^ Disconnect multi-pin connector, then remove connector from control module.





^ Remove screws (arrows).
^ Remove control module.

Installing TCM -J217-
Install the TCM in the reverse order of removal and note the following:





^ Locate multi-pin connector on TCM -J217- pins (arrows) then lock connector.
^ Perform On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
^ Initiate basic setting.
