Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), (Scan Tool Function 03)
NOTE:
- Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) must be carried out with engine not running, ignition switched on, and Climatronic switched off
- Switch Climatronic off by pressing and holding "decrease blower speed" button until "OFF" appears in display
- For definitive results, Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) must be carried out at an ambient temperature of at least 12 °C (54 °F) as displayed on A/C control head.
- Automatic regulation of Climatronic does not take place during Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).
- If necessary, Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) can be repeated several times.
Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), initiating
WARNING!
During output DTM, the first speed cooling fan is activated. Keep clear of rotating fan blades!
- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) and input address word "08 AC/Heating electronics" and then press -> button, until "Select function XX" is shown in display.

- Press buttons -0- and -3- to select "Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)".

03 - Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)
- Confirm input with Q button.

Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)
The following tests are carried out:
- A/C control head -E87- display
- Functional test of the 4 air flap motors
- Electrical circuit to fresh air blower -V2- is tested.
Vehicles from 10.00
- First speed coolant fan is activated.
Continued for all vehicles
- Climatronic control module switching sequence for A/C clutch -N25- is tested.
- All sensors are checked.
After approx. 30 seconds the checks are completed:
Indicated on display:
Function is not recognized or cannot ->
be carried out at the moment!
- If "Function is not recognized or cannot be carried out at the moment" appears in display, Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) has been concluded.
- Press -> button.
NOTE: After completing Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory
- Check A/C Control Head -E87- display
All display segments must show
NOTE: All display segments must appear during Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) function 03, otherwise replace Climatronic control module -J255-.
