- Connect VAG 1551 scan tool. VAG 1551 Scan Tool Connecting
- Initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Initiating On Board Diagnostic Program
- Switch ignition on.
- Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode.
- Switch printer on with "PRINT" button (lamp in button lights up).
- Press buttons -0- and -1- to select "Check Control Module Versions" function 01.

If the above message is displayed, check wiring connections for Data Link Connector (DLC), as well as voltage supply and Ground (GND) connections.
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
