NOTE:
- If new or additional ignition keys are required they must be matched (adapted) to the immobilizer (if equipped) and comfort system control electronics.
- The matching procedure must always be carried out for all the ignition keys, including the existing ones.
- The number of keys already matched will be displayed when the matching (adaptation) function is selected.
- With the introduction of this generation of comfort system it is possible to program additional functions. The functions and the programming are described in "Function Variations". Function Variations
- Adaptation can be interrupted with the "C" key of the VAG 1551.
CAUTION: The VAG 1551 dealership number (workshop code) will be stored in the immobilizer control module when matching ignition keys.
Requirements
- All ignition keys available. If no old ignition key is available see "Lost key procedure",
- Key fob with covered secret number may be available, if not see "Establishing secret number",
Procedure
- Insert correct profile ignition key in ignition lock.
- Connecting scan tool. VAG 1551 Scan Tool Connecting
- Initiate On Board Diagnosis. Initiating On Board Diagnostic Program

- Press a button once on each key to be programmed (in example above, 3 keys).
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Perform functional check (e.g. 3) of radio frequency keys.
NOTE:
- All 3 keys (see example) can be programmed in one adaptation sequence.
- Adaptation of all keys (pressing a button) must occur within 15 seconds.
- Successful adaptation can be confirmed in "Read measured value block" function 08, display group number 013. Read Measured Value Block (Function 08) When operating the key(s) the first two measured values must display "OK". At the same time, the last measured value must show the position of the key (first, second, third, fourth key).
- If the remote key is operated several times the third display "no measured value" changes to "OK".
The matching of ignition keys is automatically terminated when:
- Number of keys to be programmed is reached.
- A button of one of the keys to be programmed is pressed frequently.
- The permissible matching period of 15 seconds is exceeded (DTC is stored).
- Press buttons -0- and -2- to select "Check DTC memory" function 02.
If no DTC is stored, programming of keys has been successfully completed.
- Press buttons -0 and -6- to select End output" function 06.
