VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) or VAG1552 mobile scan tool with VAG1551/3 adapter cable
Test procedure
- Connect VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) or VAG1552 mobile scan tool. Start engine and press buttons -0- and -1- to select "Engine Electronics" address word 01. Engine must be running at idling speed when performing this step. [1][2]Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

- Press buttons -0- and -8- to select "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08, and press -Q- button to confirm input.

Input display group number XXX
- Press buttons -0-, -1- and -4- to input display group number 14 (014) and press -Q- button to confirm input.
Indicated on display: (1-4 = display fields)
Read Measuring Value Block 14 ->

- Check total number of misfires in display field 3.
- Check misfire recognition status in display field 4.
Display Group 014:
If the specified values are attained:
- Press -> button.
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06 and press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Turn off ignition.
If the specified values are not attained:
- Change to display group 15 as follows:
- Press button -3- (VAG1551) or button up arrow (VAG1552).
Indicated on display: (1-4 = display fields)
Read Measuring Value Block 15 ->

- Check misfiring in display fields 1-3.
- Check misfire recognition status in display field 4.
Display Group 015:
If the specified values are attained:
- Change to display group 16 as follows:
- Press button -3- (VAG1551) or button up arrow (VAG1552).
Indicated on display: (1 and 4 = display fields)
Read Measuring Value Block 16 ->
1 4
- Check misfiring in display field 1.
- Check misfire recognition status in display field 4.
Display Group 16:
- Press -> button.
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06 and press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Turn off ignition.
Evaluating display group 14, display field 3: total number of Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) damaging misfires
