Engine Control Module functions
NOTE: The ECM is equipped with various functions, Some functions can be carried out with ignition switched on or with engine running. The following table details the prerequisites for carrying out the individual functions.
Function
- The Engine Control Module -J220- for the fuel injection and ignition system is equipped with a Diagnostic Trouble Code memory.
- If malfunctions occur in the sensors and components being monitored, they will be stored in the DTC memory together with an indication of the type of malfunction.
- Malfunctions which only occur sporadically will be indicated on the display by the addition "/SP". The cause of sporadic malfunctions can be e.g. a loose contact or a brief open circuit. If a sporadic malfunction does not occur again within 40 engine starts, it will be erased from DTC memory.
- The stored malfunctions are output after initiating the malfunction display.
- After malfunctions have been eliminated, DTC memory must be erased
and the repair must be verified via the appropriate display group.
- The readiness code must be created each time the DTC memory is erased and when the voltage supply to ECM -J220- is interrupted.
