Checking Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory

NOTE: For scan tool connection instructions refer to Connecting and Selecting Function under Scan Tool Operation.

- Indicated on display:

Select function XX


1. Press buttons -0- and -2- to select the "Check DTC Memory" function 02.

2. Press -Q- button to confirm input.

IF DTC's ARE PRESENT

- Indicated on display:

X DTC recognized

NOTE: Where X equals the number of stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's).

IF No DTC's ARE PRESENT

- Indicated on display:

No DTC recognized

3. Press right ARROW button.
^ If DTC's were stored they will be displayed or printed.
- When all DTC's have been printed or displayed, press the right ARROW button to return to select function mode, refer to function 01-Connecting VAG 1551 and Selecting Functions.

NOTE: If a DTC was recognized:
a. Repair malfunction.
b. Check DTC memory.
c. Erase DTC memory.
d. Test drive.
e. Re-check DTC memory

^ If "No DTC Recognized" was displayed scan tool returns to select function mode, refer to Connecting VAG1551 and Selecting Functions.

5. Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
