Control Assembly: Service and Repair

1984 Volkswagen Jetta L4-1781cc 1.8L SOHCSECTION Service and Repair




1. Pry off the control head trim plate.
2. Remove the control head mounting screws.
3. Disconnect the control cables by removing the retaining clips.

NOTE: Installation is in reverse order of removal with exception of the following:

Cable Adjustment
1. Install the defrost and floor vent cables onto the control levers making sure that the flaps are in the closed position, install the cable retaining clips.





2. Place the heat control lever in the closed position, making sure that the heater valve is closed. Install the cable onto the control head and install the retaining clip.
3. Install the control head.
