Fuel Distributor Basic Adjustment

1982 Volkswagen Scirocco L4-1715cc 1.7L SOHCSECTION Fuel Distributor Basic Adjustment
Perform this adjustment whenever fuel distributor or air flow sensor is repaired or replaced.

1. Remove all injectors from cylinder head.
2. Remove the fuel pump relay and install a jumper wire with an in-line switch (US 4480/3 or equivalent). Turn the switch ON.
3. Hold injectors in suitable container and lift sensor plate several times.
4. Move jumper wire switch to Off position.
5. Using 3 mm allen wrench (P377 or equivalent), turn CO adjustment screw counterclockwise 1 to 2 turns.
6. Move jumper wire switch to On position.
7. Turn CO adjustment screw clockwise until injectors just begin to spray.
8. Turn CO adjustment screw 1/2 turn counterclockwise.
9. Move jumper wire switch to Off position and install injectors.
10. Start engine and run until it reaches operating temperature.
11. Adjust idle speed and CO to specifications.
