2025 Toyota Highlander Limited, FWDSECTION Procedure
  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Outlet Side) 
    NOTE:

    If the engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  3. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine coolant temperature sensor (for Water Inlet Housing Side) is necessary.

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

  4. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine coolant temperature sensor (for Water Inlet Housing Side) is necessary.

  5. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INTERCOOLER COOLING WATER PIPE 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine coolant temperature sensor (for Water Inlet Housing Side) is necessary.

  6. DISCONNECT NO. 1 INTERCOOLER COOLING WATER PIPE 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine coolant temperature sensor (for Water Inlet Housing Side) is necessary.

  7. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Water Inlet Housing Side) 
    NOTE:

    If the engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  8. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH INTERCOOLER ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine coolant temperature sensor (for Cylinder Head Side) is necessary.

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  9. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Cylinder Head Side)

      1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
      2. Using SST, remove the engine coolant temperature sensor from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
        • SST: 09817-33191 
        NOTE:

        If the engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      3. Remove the gasket from the engine coolant temperature sensor.
