DTC B1787: Rear Occupant Classification Sensor LH Collision Detection [12/2019 - 11/2023]: Procedure

2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid XLESECTION Procedure
  1. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION 
    1. Using the GTS, perform Zero Point Calibration.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2019 - 10/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2021 - 11/2023]

      OK

      "Zero Point Calibration is complete." is displayed.

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant detection ECU.

      Body Electrical > Occupant Detection > Clear DTCs 

    3. Clear the DTCs stored in the airbag sensor assembly.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
    6. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Occupant Detection > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B1787 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1787 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

  3. REPLACE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Replace the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly RH.

      for Manual Seat: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

      for Power Seat: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    3. Replace the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly RH.

      for Manual Seat: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

      for Power Seat: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
