Flush System
1990 Subaru XT-6 4WD L6-2.7L SOHCSECTION Flush System
It is not necessarily mandatory to flush an A/C system if a component has been replaced due to failure. Due to refrigerant recovery requirements, products previously used for flushing cannot be utilized. Under no circumstances should CFC's or methylchloroform be used for flushing.
An alternative to flushing is installation of an in-line filter ahead of expansion valve or orifice tube. Filters for this purpose will efficiently trap particles that may clog components and are large enough to provide long service life.
