Before replacing brake switch, check brake switch adjustment. With the brake depressed, the brake switch contacts should be open (no continuity). With the brake released the brake switch contacts should be closed (continuity).

The brake switch can be adjusted by loosening the bolt and sliding it towards, or away from the brake pedal. The plunger should be fully depressed with the brake pedal released.

REMOVAL
1. Turn ignition Off.
2. Disconnect electrical connector to brake switch.
3. Remove bolt from brake switch and remove brake switch.

INSTALLATION
1. Position brake switch to vehicle and install bolt.

NOTICE: There is a tab on the brake switch that fits into a slotted hole. This tab keeps the brake switch parallel to the brake pedal. Before tightening the bolt, be sure that the plunger is fully depressed with the brake pedal released.

Torque: 10 NM (89 in. lbs)

2. Connect electrical connector to brake switch.
3. Adjust brake switch assembly.
