1998 Saturn SL2 L4-1.9L DOHC VIN 7SECTION Linkage and Spring Assembly (Service Only)
IMPORTANT: Production modules are built with a non-adjustable mode valve to heater door linkage. If adjustment is needed, install service linkage as follows.

REMOVAL





1. Reach under dash and remove threaded end of linkage rod from upper linkage adjuster by gently pulling linkage rod straight outward.
2. Remove linkage rod from lower retainer by positioning rod on open side of retainer clip and gently pulling straight outward.
3. Remove upper linkage adjuster from mode valve assembly by pinching adjuster closed and pulling straight out.
4. Remove lower linkage retainer from mode valve assembly by pinching back of retainer and pulling straight out.
5. Remove linkage spring by grasping rear of spring with pliers and pulling back and up out of rear spring retainer.
6. Unhook spring from front spring retainer.

INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT





1. Hook spring into front spring retainer.
2. Grasp rear of spring with pliers and pull back to hook spring into rear spring retainer.
3. Install upper linkage adjuster and lower linkage retainer by pressing into place on mode valve and heater valve assembly.
4. Install linkage rod into lower linkage retainer and snap into position.
5. Position mode valve and heater door levers in the full forward position.
6. Snap threaded end of linkage rod into upper linkage adjuster.
