Service Information on Design Changes to Automatic Transaxle Control Solenoid Valve

Due to part interchangeability, this bulletin supercedes bulletin 97-T-41, which should be discarded.

MODELS AFFECTED:
1993-1998 and 1999 Saturn vehicles built up to and including VIN XZ154760 equipped with automatic transaxles (MP6/MP7)

Note:
Vehicles built after the VIN break have control solenoid valves with an additional filter on the control side of the solenoid. They are currently being used in all five solenoid locations and can be identified by a white top. The control solenoid valves were previously only used in the 2nd/Rev, 3rd, and 4th gear clutch locations on 1997-1998 vehicles.

PURPOSE:
This bulletin provides technical information on changes to the automatic transaxle control solenoid valve.

Control solenoid valve, (P/N 21003289), can now be used as a service part back to the 1993 model year and can be used in all five solenoid locations on the valvebody.
