Before Changing A Control Module:
Experience has shown that the majority of control modules returned for warranty repairs are fault-tree. In such cases, therefore, changing the control module has not corrected the fault. Check the following points before changing the control module.
1 Check all grounding points and the power supply to the control module.
2 Check using the diagnostics tool that all read values are reasonable. Several read values can affect one function.
3 Using the diagnostic tool, check that all activations function. A fault in one output circuit can effect another output circuit.
4 If the fault persists, the control module must be replaced.
5 Before handling a control module it is important to ground yourself, e.g. by touching the engine of the car. Avoid touching the pins of the control module.
When the control module has been fitted into place, trouble codes must be checked. It may be necessary to program the control module configuration.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
