If Recall 719 has already been performed, perform steps 1-6 below continuing with Recall 724 work.
1 Remove the engine cover.
2 Detach the vacuum hose from the camshaft cover.
3 Remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the nipple on the camshaft cover and remove the nipple from the cover.
4 Clean the nipple for the check valve vacuum hose by hand with a 2 mm drill bit. Flush with compressed air clean.
5 Fit the nipple to the camshaft cover and connect the hoses to the nipple.
6 Refit engine cover.
If Recall 719 has not yet been performed, please see MI 291-2217 edition 3 and perform the steps outlined therein before proceeding with Recall 724 work.
Check whether the Trionic T7 engine control module is manufactured before December 6, 1999 (year 1999, day 340) as follows:

1 Connect Tech 2 to the car's data link connector. Turn the ignition ON. When the main screen comes up, press ENTER.
2 Select "(FO): Diagnostic" from the main menu.
3 Select "Model Year" and "Vehicle Type".
4 Select "Engine" from the menu.
5 Select "Trionic" (1999) or Trionic 7" (2000).
6 Select "(F6): Date of Manufacture".
7 If the control module is manufactured on December 6, 1999 (1999 day 340) or later, no action need be taken.
If the control module is manufactured before December 6, 1999 (1999 day 340), change the control module.
(Example: Year 1999, day 001 = January 1, 1999. Year 1999, day 365 = December 31, 1999.)
8 Turn the ignition OFF.
9 If the control module is to be changed, see WIS Engine - Trionic T7 LEV - Adjustment/replacement - Control module.
