Power and Ground Distribution: Service Precautions

2000 Saab 9-3 Convertible (9400) L4-2.0L Turbo (B205)SECTION Service Precautions

WARNING
Risk of burns!
Although the system voltage is only 12 V, there is still a risk of burns or fire in the car, since the energy content of the battery is very high. A short circuit could give rise to extremely high currents!
Warning - high tension!
The electronic ignition system generates voltages in excess of 48,000 volts. This voltage can be lethal. Therefore, always turn if the ignition before touching the ignition system components.

Before you start work on the electrical system:
- take off your wristwatch and any rings you may be wearing
- check that the customer has the code for the radio before disconnecting a battery terminal (this does not apply to a Saab original radio)
- disconnect the negative cable on the battery when removing electrical components
- always follow instructions and directions for the relevant systems

WARNING
Cables to the ABS, TC-ABS and airbag systems must not be repaired, they must be changed completely.
