Heater Core: Service and Repair

1985 Renault 18I/Sportwagon L4-2165cc 2.2LSECTION Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect heater hoses at blower motor housing.
3. Disconnect blower motor and windshield wiper motor electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect retaining clip at airflow door cable sleeve, then disconnect cable at door.
5. Working in engine compartment, remove screws securing blower motor housing to firewall.
6. Working from under dashboard, remove two nuts securing heater-ventilator assembly to firewall.
7. Remove blower motor housing and heater ventilator duct assembly as a unit from vehicle.
8. To separate blower motor from blower motor housing and heater-ventilator duct assembly, remove seal, then remove clips on assembly housing.
9. Remove center bolt from heater-ventilator assembly, then separate shells of housing.
10. Remove blower motor and blower wheel assembly from housing. The blower motor and blower wheels are serviced as a unit only.
11. Disconnect drain hose from heater core, then remove heater core from housing assembly.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
