Date - Numeric This displays DD/MM/YYYY. This is the date the VCIM was manufactured.
GPS Signal - Yes The scan tool displays Yes or No. Yes is displayed if there is a GPS signal received by the VCIM.
Signal Strength - 68 The scan tool displays 0-100. This is the VCIM signal strength.
Signal Type - Digital The scan tool displays Digital or Analog. This is the signal type received by the VCIM.
Time - Numeric The scan tool displays HH:MM:SS. This is the current time.
Transceiver ID - Varies The scan tool displays a 2-5 digit value. This is the transceiver identification number.
Vehicle Communication Interface Module Scan Tool Output Controls

Scan Tool Output Control Description
Acquisition Setting It lets you choose from various selections of digital cellular technology systems: AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System), CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access), PCS (Personal Communications Service), GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications). Select CDMA because Verizon provides the cellular technology for OnStar which uses CDMA system.
B1000 Data This shows the data recorded when DTC B1000 was set in the VCIM.
Green LED The VCIM illuminates the green LED on the inside rearview mirror when ON is selected.
Phone Call Test When ON is selected, VCIM commands OnStar to connect to the OnStar Center.
Program Digital Home SID - NID Select SID (Station ID) and NID (Network Interface Device) per your location.
Program Phone Number VCIM provides mobile ID # and mobile directory # for this vehicle. Use arrow keys to change the phone # if necessary.
Red LED The VCIM illuminates the red LED on the inside rearview mirror when ON is selected.
Set Language Pick an option between 3 different languages: English, French Canadian, and Spanish.
VCIM Setup Screen displays: Move the vehicle to an open, outside area and make sure the vehicle is running. Following this VCIM setup procedure, a call will automatically be made to the OnStar Call Center. Inform the Call Center advisor that a new VCIM has been installed. Have the STID and ESN from the new VCIM ready to provide to the advisor. Refer to the Reconfiguration Procedure in the Cellular Communication section of SI for more info.
