Removal Procedure

- Remove the steering linkage shock absorber. Refer to Steering Linkage Shock Absorber Replacement .
- Disconnect the steering linkage outer tie rods from the steering knuckles. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
- Remove the pitman arm nut and discard it.
- Remove the idler arm nut and discard it.
- Separate the relay rod from the pitman arm and idler arm using puller J 24319-B .
- Remove the relay rod from the vehicle.
- Inspect for any damage on the steering linkage components and repair or replace as needed.
- Clean all threads on the steering linkage components.
