2008 Pontiac Grand Prix BaseSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the midgate window into the midgate though top of the midgate assembly.

    Ensure the window is engaged into the window run channels.

  3. Lower the window (2) onto the window regulator assembly clamps.
  4. Install the bolts (1) retaining the midgate window to the window regulator clamps until they are finger tight.
  5. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the defroster grid contact terminal.

  7. Install the midgate window outer sealing strip. Refer to Midgate Window Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .

  9. Remove the pins (2) from the midgate hinges (1) supporting the midgate.
  10. Close the midgate.
  11. Operate the midgate window until the window is fully closed and engaged in the midgate weatherstrip.
  12. Carefully lower the window in order to access the window clamp bolts.
  13. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  14. Complete tightening of the bolts retaining the midgate window to the window regulator.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  15. Inspect the operation of the midgate window.
  16. Install the midgate hinge finish covers. Refer to Midgate Hinge Finish Cover Replacement (SUT) .

  18. Install the midgate inner panel (1). Refer to Midgate Inner Panel Replacement .
