2008 Pontiac Grand Prix BaseSECTION Installation Procedure
IMPORTANT: The alignment information shown below only shows the right side tail pipe, the left side tail pipe specifications are the same.

  1. Install the muffler tail pipe into the muffler until the stop is reached.

  3. Align the muffler tail pipe centerline (1) to the rear fascia (2).

    Specification:  ± 2 degrees rotational angularity in relation to horizontal.

  5. Align the muffler tail pipe height to the rear fascia (1).

    Specification:  35 mm (1.38 in) to 45 mm (1.77 in) (maximum allowable difference of 3 mm (0.12 in) between left and right tail pipe).

  7. Center the exhaust tail pipe to the rear fascia (1, 2).

    Specification: 

    • Rear fascia (inner) to tail pipe (1) 11.2 mm (0.441 in).
    • Rear fascia (outer) to tail pipe (2) 11.3 mm (0.445 in)

  8. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  9. Tighten the exhaust tail pipe extension clamp nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 68 N.m (50 lb ft).
