Bulletin Number: 88-7-38
Reference Numbumber: 877136
Publish Date: 8/88
Subject: SERVICE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (SRTA) UPDATE
Models
Affected: 1982-88 MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 125/125c, 440-T4, OR 700-R4
SEE BULLETIN # 90742A, DATED 07/90 FOR UPDATED 440-T4 INFORMATION
BULLETIN COVERS:
This bulletin expands the list for all SRTA model applications. The SRTA Model Replacement Charts (refer to Figures 1-6) offer a complete list of the 1982 through 1988 SRTA models offered by Hydra-Matic.
SRTA ADVANTAGES:
- A SRTA is the product of a highly successful, customer satisfaction driven program providing the technician with a service alternative when addressing diagnostic and overhaul concerns.
- All SRTA units are designed and remanufactured to current engineering specifications and are often less costly than major overhaul.
- GMSPO Parts Distribution Centers are committed to 48 hour maximum delivery time for all SRTA models, with no VIP charges.
In the interest of customer satisfaction, SRTA models should only be considered when the projected cost of repair exceeds the cost of a SRTA replacement.
SERVICE NOTE:
Cooler flushing must be performed whenever a transmission/transaxle is removed for service. It is essential to flush the cooler after SRTA installation, major overhaul, in any case of pump or torque converter replacement, or when fluid contamination is suspected. Time allowance has been added to operation K7000 (Trans R&R) for 1987 and 1988 models. Add 0.6 hours to R&R allowances for 1982 through 1986 models.
The THM 200C transmission will also be added to the SRTA Program as GMSPO depletes its stock of original equipment units. Currently the 1987 THM 200C KBB model is available as a "7KB" SRTA unit. All other THM 200C models will be superseded by the appropriate SRTA model on an "as needed" basis. (OEM part numbers will be superseded automatically with the appropriate SRTA number.) Some THM 200C contents will be updated to current engineering specifications. The remaining components will be remanufactured to the applicable OEM standards at time of original production.
