2004 Oldsmobile Bravada RWDSECTION Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the 4 battery tray retaining bolts, then remove the battery tray from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the air cleaner case assembly from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the cruise control servo from the vehicle. Refer to Cruise Control Servo Replacement in Cruise Control.
  5. Remove the clip, then disconnect the shift cable from the bracket.
  6. Remove the shift cable retaining nut, then disconnect shift cable from the transaxle.

  8. Remove the shift cable bracket retaining bolt, then position the shift cable out of the way.

  10. Remove the 2 bolts and ground cables from the transaxle.
  11. Disconnect the 3 transaxle wiring harness connectors from the transaxle.
  12. Disconnect the breather hose from the transaxle.

  14. Remove the 2 oil cooler pipe and filler tube retaining bolts.
  15. Remove filler tube from the transaxle.

  17. Disconnect the oil cooler pipes from the transaxle.
  18. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe oxygen sensor electrical connector. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 (FWD) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 (AWD) in Engine Electrical.
  19. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical - 1.8L (LV6).
  20. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  21. Remove the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  22. Remove the left lower splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine - Left in Body Front End.
  23. Remove the right lower splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine - Right in Body Front End.
  24. Remove the starter assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  25. Remove the exhaust pipe from the vehicle. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV6 Engine) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (LNK Engine) in Engine Exhaust.
  26. Remove the flywheel inspection cover from the transaxle.
  27. IMPORTANT: Before removing the torque converter bolts, mark the position of the gray colored bolt for installation.
