  1. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Disconnect passenger side impact air bag harness under right seat. See Figure. Check wire harness terminals for corrosion, damage and poor connections. If damage is evident, go to next step. If no damage is evident, go to step  4.
  3. If damage is in harness side of connector, replace harness. If damage is in passenger side impact air bag module connector, replace air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  10.
  4. Reconnect passenger side impact air bag harness connector. Ensure CPA clip is installed correctly. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B0028 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B0028 is not retrieved, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect passenger side impact air bag module connector. See Figure. Install SIR Driver/Passenger Load Tool (J-38715-A) to harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B0028 is retrieved, go to step  7. If DTC B0028 is not retrieved, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Replace passenger side impact air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  10.
  7. Turn ignition off. Using Digital Multimeter (J-39200), measure resistance between passenger side impact high circuit 2103 and side impact low circuit 2104. If resistance is infinite, go to step  9. If resistance is not infinite, go to next step.
  8. Repair short between circuits 2103 and 2104. Go to step  10.
  9. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
