- Lower the spare tire.
- Remove the rear tail lamp assemblies. Refer to TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY AND/OR BACKUP, SIDEMARKER, STOP, TURN SIGNAL BULB REPLACEMENT (PICKUP) or TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY AND/OR BACKUP, SIDEMARKER, STOP, TURN SIGNAL BULB REPLACEMENT (UTILITY) in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the bolts that retain the frame to the pickup box.
- Remove the wiring harness ground wire from the frame.
- Remove the license plate lamp. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (W/ STEP BUMPER) or LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (W/O STEP BUMPER) or LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (FILLER PANEL) .
- Remove the ground wire that retains the fuel filler neck to the pickup box.
- Remove the screws that retain the fuel filler neck to the pickup box.
- With an assistant, remove the pickup box from the vehicle.
