Installation Procedure
- If removed, install the coolant pump to the engine front cover. Refer to WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT .
- If removed, install the crankshaft position sensor to the engine front cover.
- If removed, install the drive belt shield.
- Install the drive belt shield bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the drive belt shield bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the engine front cover gasket.
- Apply sealer GM P/N 12346004, (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to both sides of the lower tabs of the engine front cover gasket, and the engine front cover bolts.
- Install the engine front cover.
- Install the engine front cover bolts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the engine front cover bolts (2) to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).
- Install the engine front cover bolts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the engine front cover bolts (3) to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).
- Install the engine front cover bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the engine front cover bolts (1) to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Install the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket.
- Install the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket bolt to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Install the coolant pump pulley. Refer to WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT .
- Connect the radiator outlet hose to the coolant pump.
- Connect the thermostat bypass pipe to the engine front cover. Refer to THERMOSTAT BYPASS PIPES REPLACEMENT .
- Install the power steering pump with lines. Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACEMENT .
- Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to DRIVE BELT TENSIONER REPLACEMENT .
- Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to CRANKSHAFT BALANCER REPLACEMENT .
- Fill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT .
- Fill the cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .

When to See a Mechanic
