WARNING:
- Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.
- A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.
- Continuous exposure to used engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after working with engine oil.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the under cover and splash shield as a single unit.
- Remove the front tire (RH).
- Drain the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT .)
- Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
- Position the coolant reserve tank out of the way.
- Remove the A/C compressor with the pipes still connected. (See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the ignition coil. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Position the accelerator cable bracket out of the way.
- Remove the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the engine front cover. (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the oil pan. (See OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove in the order indicated in the figure.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Refill the engine with the specified type and amount of the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT .)
- Start the engine and inspect for oil leakage.
- If the oil leaks, specify the faulty part and repair or replace it.
- Inspect the oil level. (See ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION .)
- Inspect for the ignition timing and idle speed.
