Balance Shaft (Unit Repair) Installation: Installation
2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWDSECTION Installation

- Install balance shaft bushing using Balance Shaft Bearing Remover/Installer J43650.
- Seat balance shaft bushing into bore using J43650 and a wrench.
- When the J43650 is fully seated in the engine block remove it with a wrench.
IMPORTANT: If balance shafts are not properly timed to engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.
- Place the number one piston at top dead center (TDC).
- Install balance shaft drive chain sprocket on crankshaft.
- Install balance shafts into their bores.
- Install balance shaft retaining bolts.
Torque:
Balance Shaft Retaining Bolts: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
- Align arrow on exhaust sprocket with notch on carrier. Arrow should point down.
- Align arrow on intake sprocket with notch on carrier. Arrow should point up.
