Fuel Pressure Regulator: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  . Remove upper intake manifold assembly. See UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
  2. Before removal, clean fuel meter body assembly with a spray type engine cleaner, such as GM X-30A. DO NOT use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). Solvents containing MEK may damage fuel system components.
  3. Remove fuel pressure regulator retaining clip. See Figure . Place shop towel below fuel pressure regulator to catch any spilled fuel. Pull and twist fuel pressure regulator to remove from fuel pressure regulator housing. Remove lower "O" ring, filter, upper "O" ring and back-up ring. Discard the "O" rings.
