Mode selector knob controls a vacuum-operated rotary selector valve. Mode selector routes engine vacuum to operate air delivery door actuators, providing desired air distribution. It also allows for selection of air conditioning or heating functions. See Figure. Mode selector knob positions are OFF, A/C, MAX A/C, BI-LEVEL A/C, VENT, BI-LEVEL, FLOOR, MIX-BLEND, and FRONT DEFROST. See FRONT HVAC MODE POSITIONS .
