2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWDSECTION Anti-Lock Brake System Diagnostic System Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located below steering column. See Figure . If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP in SYSTEM TESTS article in BODY CONTROL MODULES.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with PCM and EBCM. If scan tool communicates with control modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with control modules, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in SYSTEM TESTS article in BODY CONTROL MODULES.
  3. Select display DTCs function on scan tool for PCM and EBCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair by symptom. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
  4. If scan tool displays any DTCs which begins with a "U", go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in SYSTEM TESTS article in BODY CONTROL MODULES. If scan tool does not display any "U" series DTC, go to next step.
  5. If scan tool displays DTC P0500, P0502, P0503, P0562, P0563, P0601-P0607, P1381, P1621, P1627 or P1683, diagnose affected DTCs. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
