2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWDSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the liftgate to the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the liftgate hinge nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the liftgate hinge nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  4. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  5. Install the wire harness to the lift gate. Refer to WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  6. Install the liftgate control module. Refer to LIFT GATE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT  .
  7. Install the window wiper assembly. Refer to WASHER HOSE REPLACEMENT - REAR (PUMP TO LIFTGATE) in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  8. Install the window latch assembly. Refer to LATCH REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE WINDOW  .
  9. Install the lock cylinder. Refer to LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  10. Install the license plate pocket. Refer to LICENSE PLATE POCKET REPLACEMENT  .
  11. Connect the rear windshield defogger electrical connectors (2).

  13. Connect the rear window washer fluid supply hose.

  15. Connect the CHMSL electrical connector behind the header panel.
  16. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  17. Install the liftgate window garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR WINDOW in Interior Trim.
  18. Install the upper rear quarter trim, located above the tail lamp. Refer to MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR PANEL in Exterior Trim.
  19. Install the liftgate window. Refer to WINDOW REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE in Stationary Windows.
