Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

1997 Oldsmobile LSS V6-3.8L VIN KSECTION Service and Repair





REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Remove the Manifold vacuum lines to throttle body and fuel pressure regulator.
2. Remove the Idle Air Control (IAC), Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the two TP sensor attaching screws.


INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. With the throttle valve in the normal closed idle position, install the TP sensor on the throttle body assembly, making sure the TP sensor pickup lever is located ABOVE the tang on the throttle actuator lever.
2. Install the two TP sensor attaching screws, using a thread-locking compound on the screws. Loctite 262 (R), GM Part No. 1052624, or equivalent should be used.
3. Install the IAC, TP sensor and MAF sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the manifold vacuum lines to throttle body and fuel pressure regulator.
