CONTROL DESCRIPTION

  • Drive mode selector switches driving mode by drive mode select switch installed on center console finisher.
  • Drive mode selector starts from AUTO mode when the power switch ON.
  • The vehicle characteristics are controlled from the AUTO mode to any mode listed below:
OFF-ROAD Allows for easier driving or starting on a bumpy road surface such as an uneven dirt road or a steep uphill slope or through sand.
SNOW This mode makes it easier to start and run from snowy roads and frozen roads.
ECO Assists the driver's eco-driving. The engine and transmission points are adjusted for improved fuel economy, providing such a driving features as smooth starting or constant cruising.
    SPORT
    • Adjusts the engine and transmission points for a higher response.
    • The setting of the steering system is adjusted to moderately increase steering wheel effort for a sporty feel.
  • For relationship between drive mode and each control item, refer to the following table.

    x: Change from AUTO

    Items Drive mode Control
    OFF-ROAD SNOW ECO SPORT
    Engine x x x x Controls engine torque
Transmission     x x Selects shift pattern
Steering       x Controls mode and response of steering
Intelligent trace control x     x Controls intelligent trace control
Brake control system x x   x Controls braking force
AWD system x x x   Controls drive torque distribution
Driver assistance function x x     Controls ADAS function

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
