CONTROL DESCRIPTION

  • Drive mode selector switches driving mode by drive mode select switch installed on center console finisher.
  • Drive mode selector starts from STANDARD mode when the power switch ON.
  • The vehicle characteristics are controlled from the STANDARD mode to any mode listed below:
    SPORT
    • Adjusts the engine and transmission points for a higher response.
    • The setting of the steering system is adjusted to moderately increase steering wheel effort for a sporty feel.
ECO Assists the driver's eco-driving. The engine and transmission points are adjusted for improved fuel economy, providing such a driving features as smooth starting or constant cruising.
  • For relationship between drive mode and each control item, refer to the following table.

    x: Change from STANDARD

    Items Drive mode Control
    SPORT ECO
Engine x x Controls engine torque
Transmission x x Selects shift pattern
Steering x   Controls mode and response of steering
Intelligent trace control x   Controls intelligent trace control
Brake control system x   Controls braking force
Driver assistance function     Controls ADAS function

ENGINE CHARACTERISTICS

  • The engine output characteristics when a mode is switched with the drive mode select switch is as follows.
Drive mode select switch Engine output
ECO Accelerator opening characteristics is changed.
    STANDARD Normal
SPORT Accelerator opening characteristics is changed and use a high engine performance range.
NOTE: SYMBOL After switching mode to a mode that engine output increase, engine output characteristics are changed after releasing the accelerator pedal.

TRANSMISSION CHARACTERISTICS

  • The transmission characteristics when a mode is switched with the drive mode select switch is as follows.
Drive mode select switch Transmission status
ECO TCM controls shift characteristics of transaxle suitable for ECO mode.
    STANDARD Normal
SPORT TCM controls shift characteristics of transaxle suitable for SPORT mode.

For details, Refer to System Description .

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
